Palma McKeown is Scots-Italian and lives in Motherwell. She has been published in various poetry magazines and anthologies. Much of her poetry is inspired by her family and the surreal (often the same thing.) She is a qualified hypnotherapist, an ex-BBC subtitler and spent a few years working in Saffron Walden, Essex, with the job title “World Alcohol Manager.” She has long been a fan of vintage and now has three stores on Etsy: Blithe Spirit Vintage, Luckenbooth Vintage and Kingfisher Vintage UK.
Frank is a musician and teacher who now concentrates on writing, having published two novels, Lost on Main Street and The Busker of Buenos Aires. Both are crime mysteries set in the music world. Alex was formerly a CEO of several third sector social care organisations in Glasgow. He also spent many years working in the addiction services in the city and has just recently retired. He still provides a consultancy on social care and community-based issues.
Alex’s main interest is writing, and he published his first novel, Deception Road, which is a political thriller set in Glasgow, in 2017. This is the first of four thrillers centred on the career of MI5 officer, Eddie Macintyre. The second novel in the quartet, Caledonia Snack, will be released on Amazon in March 2023. Marco is the successful proprietor of the Battlefield Rest restaurant. Marco transformed a dilapidated former tram halt into a very popular Italian eatery which has become a landmark for diners both in the south-side and further afield.
He has also conserved an iconic building in the Battlefield area and, indeed, has made part of it an apiary which produces locally produced honey and helps preserve the local bee population
Hugh is an emeritus professor of Applied Philosophy at Glasgow Caledonian University and has published several books on social policy, social philosophy and ethical issues. He is also a renowned authority on the history of witchcraft in Scotland and is a regular speaker on the subject.
He continues to contribute articles for newspapers and online newscasts as well as appearances on television and radio.
Henry is a Literary Studies scholar and has published several works, including interpretations of Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment and Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. He has also published reviews in literary journals. He attended Langside College and read Social Sciences at the Glasgow Caledonia University.
Samantha is a former journalist who has recently published her first novel - The Many Deaths of Aurora Flowers about a woman who can remember her past lives. Now Head of PR for a UK charity, she lives on the south side of Glasgow with her partner, Martin.
Greg is a working class Glaswegian poet and spoken word artist. Greg uses his poetry to document and excise the trauma of youth, growing up below the poverty line in a broken home and to expose misrepresented proletarian experience. His work is described as raw, poignant and woundingly accurate.
William started writing personalised tribute poems for family and friends, developed via creative writing groups, U3A and classes. The end product was a book of short stories with a Glaswegian theme called " Twice Last Night". He is now writing novellas.
Alan is an English teacher in Glasgow. His debut novel, The Mash House, was shortlisted for the New Dagger Award by the Crime Writers' Association.
Maureen has lived in Battlefield most of her life. She is the author of three published novels, The Search, The Confession and The Deception and a number of short stories. She is working on her fourth novel.
Yasmin is a Scottish writer and educator, specialising in children’s literature. Her first poem was published by Cranachan Publishing in their Stay-at-Home anthology. Rosalyn is a former nurse who has worked in several Glasgow hospitals, including the Western Infirmary and the former Southern General, as well as in health centres across the city. A former Chair of the Langside, Battlefield and Camphill Community Council she has been very engaged in community activities.
She also presents a popular music programme on the CamGlen local radio station and has had many music personalities as guests on her programme.
Ros has published several books based on her nursing experiences as well as her role as a radio presenter.
Jonathan grew up in the south side and was educated at Hutchesons’ Grammar School. He has been working with still and moving images for most of his life. His poetic works explore philosophical, divine and occult themes.
Ian Goudie is a former defence worker who has contributed to numerous defence-related publications. Since retiring, he has had a play staged, and several poems and pieces of fiction
published. He has an MSc in Public Policy and is currently studying for a BA in Arts and Humanities.
Ian writes both prose and poetry. He specialises in football poetry, which has been published in both Killie Magazine and Nutmeg.

Duncan is a retired environmental technician. In a previous life he worked in naval shipyards, maintaining an interest in all things nautical ever since. Kathryn is a poet from Paisley who is published online and in print, she is one of the Mill Girl Poets, a group of women who wrote and performed a show about the heritage and lives of Paisley thread mill workers. I am a self-taught poet artist and photographer, born and raised in the Govanhill and Gorbals communities of Glasgow.
The fourth of five sisters who were all taught by our parents from an early age the importance of the values of sharing and cooperation.
Began to write poetry to help me make sense of my life at age around my late twenties.
This began my journey.
My creative work and the cowriters and friends, I have found along the way support my sense of who I am in the world.
Expressive arts are my passion.
I strive to utilise community arts as a basis for the creation and gathering of working class culture, poetry, stories and songs.
Lesley O’Brien grew up in Glasgow’s East End with a family that loved to share stories, songs and the occasional poem. She combines her work as poet, singer and storyteller with her folk band Kittlin and as a creative writing facilitator. Lesley sings with The Carlton Jug Band, works for Glasgow Women’s Aid, and is the former chair of Lapidus Scotland. Her poetry has been widely published and is rooted in Scotland, its people, Lesley's feminism, her love of Mother Nature and the passionate belief that words can help us heal.
